Donnovan was diagnosed in the 2nd grade with ADD. Actually depending on what Dr you ask sometimes he is ADD and sometimes he is ADHD. Since we have moved to TX we have needed to find another psychiatrist for him to see. I made an appointment in November and he went to see him today. I wanted John to take him since he seems to have a harder time understanding what exactly ADD is. Donnovan is ADHD they have gotten rid of ADD but there are different levels now. Donnovan is ADHD level 1, which means he is indecisive. He chooses to play video games, he chooses to read, but he also chooses not to clean his room and chores, etc. The Dr is going to reduce the Ritalin, which we are grateful for since there has been lots of side affects with that such as lack of appetite, falling asleep, and mood swings. Some of this is the onset of puberty (I am not ready to deal with that yet). So the Dr is going to reduce the Ritalin but up the Strattera which is long lasting medicine. So he will not have to take medicine at school anymore and hopefully he will stabilize. We need to work on him being organized better and this is part of his ADHD. He can be organized he just chooses not to. So slowly I will be removing his medicine and keep you posted on the progress. I am glad that John took him as he now a better understanding as to what is going on.
